- Creating biosurfactants which can remove the biofilm of bacteria.

Problems
The gut of farmed shrimp/ fish is an important organ that helps shrimp/ fish absorb feed nutrients which provide energy for the growth and development of shrimp/ fish. It’s also a susceptible organ that pathogens easily attack, leading to severe diseases such as the part-empty gut, liquid feces, white feces, etc.
There are many factors relating to diseases on gut of shrimp including as below.
- Many environmental factors that might be fluctuated as water quality (dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, ammonia, minerals), temperature, and any changes in the bottom.
- In case of bad-quality feed, it includes mycotoxin or preservatives. Also, feed is oxidative because of overuse or poor conditions in management.
- Shrimp is affected by pathogens as bacteria, virus, and parasites.
- Health conditions of shrimp: shrimp has a bad immune system or broken physical barrier, get stressed. In addition, antioxidants reduce.
Most of the time when diseases occur, farmers often use antibiotics for treatment. However, this method will not be effective for a long time, but also causes drug resistance and persistence inside shrimp’s meat.
In recent studies, it was found that most of the pathogenic bacteria on the gut of farmed shrimp/fish create their biofilms, which secrete toxins to poison the liver and gut of shrimp/fish. It is very difficult to destroy this membrane, even by chemicals or antibiotics.
